Acknowledgements

By signing below, the Applicant acknowledges, understands, and agrees to the following terms and conditions governing participation in the programs of Pontifical Georgian College (“the College”), the seminary of the United Roman-Ruthenian Church (“the Church”).

1. Ecclesiastical Nature of the Institution

The Applicant acknowledges that Pontifical Georgian College is an ecclesiastical seminary operating under the authority and endorsement of the United Roman-Ruthenian Church, and exists solely for religious, clerical, theological, and ecclesiastical formation within the life of the Church.

The College is not a civil university, does not hold, does not seek, and does not claim accreditation by any governmental, regional, or secular accrediting agency, nor by any ecclesiastical accrediting body outside the Church. All programs, courses, certificates, and degrees offered by the College are ecclesiastical in nature and purpose only.

2. No Civil or Secular Purpose

The Applicant understands and agrees that instruction, coursework, degrees, certificates, or other recognitions issued by the College are not intended for secular, civil, governmental, or professional credentialing purposes; that the College makes no representation or warranty that any course of study will be accepted, recognized, or transferable by any external institution, employer, licensing authority, or academic body; and that the Applicant bears sole responsibility for determining whether participation meets their personal, ecclesiastical, or vocational goals.

3. Competency-Based and Independent Formation

The Applicant acknowledges that the College operates primarily as a competency-based and self-directed program of formation, requiring substantial independent study, disciplined reading, writing, reflection, and self-motivation. The College does not guarantee instructional format, pacing, faculty availability, mentoring style, or mode of delivery, and reserves the right to modify curricula, requirements, assessments, or instructional methods at its discretion.

4. No Guarantee of Completion, Degree, or Outcome

The Applicant expressly understands and agrees that admission does not guarantee completion of any course or program; completion of coursework does not guarantee the conferral of any degree, certificate, or academic honor; and the College reserves sole discretion to determine satisfactory completion, competency, or readiness for advancement.

5. Ordination and Ecclesiastical Office

The Applicant understands and agrees that completion of any seminary program does not guarantee ordination, licensing, incardination, appointment, or assignment to any clerical office; ordination and ecclesiastical ministry are governed exclusively by the Canon Law, discipline, and pastoral judgment of the United Roman-Ruthenian Church, exercised by the competent ecclesiastical authority; and seminary formation and ordination are distinct processes, and participation in one does not entitle the Applicant to the other.

6. Fees, Donations, and Refund Policy

The Applicant acknowledges that all course fees, tuition, or related payments are considered voluntary donations to the Church, made in support of its religious and educational mission. Such donations are non-refundable, regardless of withdrawal, dismissal, non-completion, or dissatisfaction. In rare and extraordinary circumstances, the Church may, at its sole and absolute discretion, elect to refund a donation, in whole or in part. The Applicant acknowledges that no refund is promised or implied.

7. Participation as Privilege

The Applicant acknowledges that participation in the College is a privilege, not a right. The College reserves the right to admit, deny, suspend, dismiss, or discontinue any Applicant or student at any time, for reasons including but not limited to academic, pastoral, disciplinary, doctrinal, or ecclesiastical considerations, as determined by the Church. Operations of the College are governed entirely by the Canon Law and other directives of the government of the United Roman-Ruthenian Church under the principal authority of the Supreme Pontiff thereof.

8. Assumption of Risk and Hold Harmless

The Applicant voluntarily assumes all risks associated with participation in the College’s programs, including but not limited to emotional, spiritual, academic, and personal challenges inherent in theological formation. The Applicant agrees to release, indemnify, and hold harmless the United Roman-Ruthenian Church, Pontifical Georgian College, their clergy, officers, faculty, agents, and representatives from any and all claims, liabilities, losses, or damages arising from participation, except in cases of willful misconduct.

9. No Reliance on External Statements

The Applicant agrees that no verbal statements, informal communications, online materials, or third-party representations shall be deemed binding unless expressly incorporated into this written agreement. This document constitutes the entire agreement governing participation in the College and supersedes all prior understandings.

10. Governing Authority

This Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted according to the Canon Law, statutes, and internal governance of the United Roman-Ruthenian Church, without reference to secular conflict-of-law principles.
