PREFECTURE OF EDUCATION

About the Prefecture of Education

The Prefecture of Education is the principal office for the United Roman-Ruthenian Church pertaining to education of various types around the world. With a focus on general education in religion and seminary training for clergy, it plays a vital role especially within the Diocese and Catholicate of Rome-Ruthenia. It also provides general assistance and oversight throughout the entire United Roman-Ruthenian Church.

The Prefecture of Education serves as an essential institution for education across various domains. From providing general education in religion to offering seminary training for clergy members, it plays a pivotal role in strengthening faith and fostering spiritual growth. Moreover, through its outreach ministry, the Prefecture extends its reach beyond religious education to empower individuals from all walks of life. By equipping them with knowledge and skills necessary for personal development, it strives to create positive societal change.

With highly trained members who serve as educators both within the church's institutions and in mainstream educational settings, the Prefecture is committed to enriching minds and transforming lives.

General Religious Education

Within the United Roman-Ruthenian Church, the Prefecture of Education holds primary responsibility for imparting general education in religion. Through comprehensive curriculum and specialized learning material, individuals are provided with a deeper understanding of their faith, allowing them to grow spiritually and enrich their connection to their faith.

Seminary Training for Clergy

The clergy's seminary training directly assigned within the Diocese and Catholicate of Rome-Ruthenia is under the general authority of the Prefecture of Education. It ensures that future religious leaders receive comprehensive theological education, pastoral training, and guidance necessary to serve their ministries effectively. At present, the principal seminary for the Diocese and Catholicate of Rome-Ruthenia is its historic seminary founded in 1987, Pontifical Georgian College (originally based in San Antonio, Texas, USA, and known as the St. George Theological Seminary). By providing an environment conducive to learning and growth, the Prefecture helps to ensure that aspiring clergy members are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to fulfill their sacred responsibilities.
