THE LITURGICAL STATIONS OF THE UNITED ROMAN-RUTHENIAN CHURCH

These churches are given special position because of their prominence in the history and patrimony of the United Roman-Ruthenian Church. The list of the churches forms a trail of pilgrimage. Those who visit each church, recite a Pater Noster and an Ave Maria, and pray for the intentions of the Papa-Catholicos may be recognised with a special attestation.

In addition, it is also considered especially pious, whether part of a pilgrimage or not, to visit the specific churches on the feasts and Lenten days indicated and participate in liturgy.

The Station Churches are also noted and commemorated in supreme pontifical masses on those days and optionally by other churches within the United Roman-Ruthenian Church. This is to demonstrate the historic and continuing linkage between each of those churches and the patrimony of the United Roman-Ruthenian Church.
