The Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, also called the Indian Orthodox Church, is an autocephalous Oriental Orthodox church rooted in the Saint Thomas Christian tradition of India.

Heritage

Its historical life combines the ancient Christianity of the Malabar Coast with the West Syriac liturgical and theological tradition received through longstanding relations with the Syriac Orthodox Church.

Governance

The church is headed by the Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan. Its faithful are concentrated in India with dioceses and communities throughout the world.
