The baculum is the short or informal pastoral staff in the United Roman-Ruthenian Church used by bishops of the Gallo-Russo-Byzantine and Anglican-Byzantine Rites. It consists of a gold or wooden staff surmounted by a small cross or crucifix. It is smaller than the usual crosier carried by bishops and is closer to a walking stick. It may be used in liturgy as well as in the regular episcopal habit.
