Cleric (Clergy of the United Roman-Ruthenian Church) An cleric is a clergyman within the United Roman-Ruthenian Church. It is a general term for clergy of any rank and also can refer specifically to a basic cleric who has received the First Tonsure. Basic clerics ranks below a Porter. This is the basic level of a clergyman. They are likewise known by the title of Reverend. First Tonsure: The tonsure as the rite of admission to the cleric state was revived by the United Roman-Ruthenian Church. It is made by clipping small parts of the hair in five places in the form of a cross to mark their obedience to the Church and is quite distinct from the full "monastic" tonsure.
