The temporal patrimony of Rome-Ruthenia is the body of historical, juridical, dynastic, cultural, and charitable institutions associated with the United Roman-Ruthenian Church and the Pontifical Imperial State.

Non-territorial character

The patrimony in its modern form is not ordinary sovereignty over a modern geographic territory in the sense of actual or intended civil governance. It is exercised as a non-territorial ecclesiastical and cultural jurisdiction, expressed through spiritual governance, honours, diplomatic activity, charitable work, archives, heraldry, and the maintenance of historic traditions. The Roman-Ruthenian Church and State do not seek direct civil governance in any modern nation.

Relationship to the Church

Temporal institutions are ordered to the Church’s spiritual mission. Their purpose is to support religious, educational, humanitarian, cultural, and diplomatic work rather than to displace civil government.
