Most Holy (title) The title of "the Most Holy" (Sanctissimus in Latin, Santissimo in Italian) is a style within the Pontifical Imperial State of Rome-Ruthenia and the United Roman-Ruthenian Church exclusively used by the Prince-Bishop of Rome-Ruthenia. This title signifies his role as the Supreme Pontiff of the Church. It may be appended after "Apostolic Highness" or be used independently in certain documents and other places by tradition. It is similar in concept to the title of Reverend used by general clergy, Most Reverend used by archbishops, and so on.
